Jenny writes dark fiction that her mother hates. Her stories and essays have appeared in Across the Margin, Pantheon, Shimmer, Black Denim Lit, Skive, and others. When she’s not writing her own stuff, she’s reading mysteries for Criminal Element. When she’s not writing fiction or reviews, she’s writing/directing/performing/designing plays at Springs Ensemble Theatre.

  1. This is wonderful. You have told so much in those brief words. Often times girls like Shai end up envying blonds, because that is all that they see. And they are looked upon favorably. The thought that the roles could be reversed, and that the blond could envy the beauty of Shai’s hair, is remarkable and refreshing. Thank you.

  2. We just had a similar experience with my niece – my SIL was stumped! I guess it’s a universal feeling with six and seven year old little girls, noticing beauty in everyone and wanting to experience it and share it.
